ARI Aerosol Packaging Facility

Multiple LG High Static Ducted Single-Zone units provide even temperature year-round in a large open warehouse in South Georgia.

ARI, an aerosol packaging supplier in Griffin, Georgia, was tasked with packaging a new line of aerosol, and an additional space was needed in order to house the product surplus. A local contractor and C.C. Dickson were called in to help design an energy efficient building from the ground up that would provide a home to the aerosol canning manufacturing plant and warehouse. In designing the new building, one of the main goals of ARI was to heat and cool the workspace in a sustainable and cost-efficient manner. A unique challenge presented to the contractor was that in the large warehouse, it would be more difficult to maintain an even temperature across the entire facility.

It was essential to the client to heat or cool the warehouse in an energy efficient way and effectively maintain consistent temperature within the large space. The High Static Ducted Single-Zone units from LG met both these needs, in addition to providing long-term cost savings due to the units’ energy efficiency. The contractors needed an alternative to traditional wall units in order for the air fl ow to reach people anywhere in the large space. The flexible design of the LG air conditioning system allowed the High Static Ducted units to effectively meet the needs the building’s layout required.

Due to the innovative technology of the LG Inverter systems, which allowed the amount of heating or cooling to vary as needed and gave the occupants more temperature control, the contractor was able to zone the large open facility without ductwork or spiral pipe. The units were hung from the ceiling by threaded rod and a small plenum and grille were installed on the front of the air handlers. The LG High Static Ducted Single-Zone units have a higher efficiency rating (17 SEER) than standard commercial products, which contributes to overall energy savings for the building owner.

The LG High Static Ducted units were an ideal solution to accommodate ambient weather conditions. During the harsh winter, despite the fact that ice formed on the condensers, it was never necessary to supplement with emergency gas heat – a common practice in other facilities with unitary equipment – due to the inefficient heating. The LG units also provided occupants with the ability to reduce the air humidity level using the dehumidification mode on the thermostat a necessary factor in South Georgia “In determining the best air conditioning solution, The LG systems showed the most versatility,” said Noah Slagle of Titan Heating & Air Conditioning. “Due to the nature of the building’s design, we knew the LG indoor units would be exposed. LG presented a very clean looking HVAC solution, easily fitting in with the rest of the equipment.”

Due to the inherent energy efficiency in all LG systems, implementing high voltage power panels for the unit’s operation were unnecessary. Installation labor costs were also decreased as a result of not having to install ductwork, which led to a faster and easier installation process. Contractors were able to troubleshoot and analyze diagnostics straight from their smartphones with the LG SIMS 2.0 app, which saved time in troubleshooting any HVAC issues.

As a result of the effortless installation of the LG High Static Ducted Single-Zone units, the project was completed in less than a month, according to C.C. Dickson. Though ARI has multiple warehouses similar to the new facility, this building has proven to be the one that is most comfortable and has delivered long-term cost savings.
